Sublimation is a method by which dye is transferred to fabric through a process of heat and pressure. It is the easiest and fastest technique of adorning fabric with an image or pattern. Sublimation refers to the transition of a substance from solid state to gas without passing through the intermediate liquid state. In the case of our sublimation shirts, the heat and pressure turns the solid dye into gas form, allowing it to diffuse onto the fibre of the fabric and bond to it as it re-solidifies.
A new way to print
The advantage of sublimation is that the process dyes the garment, rather than prints on top of it as with traditional screen-printing. Because the colour permeates the fabric and in effect becomes part of it, it is less susceptible to fading with time, and has a better, seamless feel compared to screen-printed images that sit slightly on top of the fabric. Sublimation also allows for an unlimited range of colours and design options. Pretty much whatever you can conceive, we can achieve. This makes sublimation shirts ideal for sport clothing of all types, integrating logos, player numbers and team colours with the fabric itself. The colours are vibrant and lasting and combine with our quality, breathable polyester to produce a durable garment that retains its appearance, feel and form.
Our sublimation shirts are printed using a continuous-tone technology, where each dot can be any colour, producing true continuous tones appearing much like a chemical photograph. Sublimation shirts are dry and ready to handle immediately because the dye never enters a liquid phase. This also means the printing cycle is an extremely clean and quick process, with no liquid dye to clean up or clog print heads.
